Buying a Home in Salt Lake City, UT

Does the "Right" way to buy a home change?

Last year, CNN Money posted a Spring Home-Buying Guide.

The link is:

CNN Money - Spring Home-Buying Guide: 6 ways to do it right

They say to get pre-approved first, shop at least 4 or 5 lenders, work with an agent who will represent you only, etc. etc. etc.

The most important factor is making sure you have someone on YOUR side of the transaction, protecting YOUR interest and working to get YOU the best price and terms. If you have an Exclusive Buyer's Agent on your side, they should help ensure that you are doing the rest of the important things.

Ben, with so many "agents" out there claiming to be Exclusive Buyer Agents it is often hard to tell if the agent you have is really exclusively for the buyer - or is just saying they are.  A buyer should ask them straight out:  "Does your company also list homes in addition to working for buyers?"  If the answer is yes they should keep looking or keep all their information to themselves.

I like your blog, Ben.

Paul Howard, a rare breed.  REALLY, an EXCLUSIVE buyer's agent.
